This is just a few little fixes, e.g. the 'stars' in the playbacks window are now hoverable, reloading works properly for peds in all situations. Also added a better model for some of the mounted 'dropper' weapons (mines, spikes, oil) - thanks for that Dr Mathias!

I have also made a significant change to the memory management done in the Windows build, and I have made two separate Windows builds using different compilers, to see if they behave differently.

Windows users will therefore see two different darkwindClient programs:  "darkwindClient.exe" and "darkwindClientB.exe" -- if you're having problems with one crashing/freezing up, particularly when entering/exiting events, please try the other one. I'd be interested to hear if you find any differences between the two.

i crashed in the beginning of two events. now when i am running the dust that normally appears and then fades now stays there.

the flash from a gunshot hit now stays too. but the rockets do not appear and neither does the flash from the hit.

During a GW gates encounter I was getting an effect similar to staring into a light every time I zoomed out beyond a certain point. Screen would go mostly white with 'rays' of light appearing from an offset focal point and expanding in a circular pattern.

i have posted my rather negative scouting problems since this update in the bugs forum... i'm afraid the game has become effectively unplayable for me at the moment :(

Can you do a re-install goat? I'm pretty sure the particle issues are just a bad patch, and you're missing a file or two that should have updated.

I am now having the crash upon exit issue also. It happens approximately 3/4 of the time. This was not happening after the patch yesterday, instead starting this morning.

I am running the B client due to the object issue.

Th defaut .exe works fine
My install CTDed after every scout/spectate now it only CTD's at close of client ( no lose there, then)

Do you find it works better in terms of loading into events without freezing, Rahn?

Also, how much RAM does your graphics card have? I have a hunch that this might be Double Tap's problem (64MB card) - he seems to get the worst trouble loading into events at the moment.

Which versions are you referring to here coco? darkwindClient.exe crashes when? darkwindClientB.exe crashes when? Which one is the "default.exe" that works so good?

My card has 256MB. I have only done a couple of megascouts since changing to the B client. In one, it locked up at 1/3 as before. I was able to enter the game on the second attempt. In the other scout, it did load the first time through but it loaded the objects slowly.

i patched but didnt re-download. i dont see any changes. the game still bugs with the missing or out of order animation bug thats been here the last few patches (firing before cars move into place, etc).

havent seen any change in crashes. for me this means fairly often at end of load screens and occaisonally just locks up or crashes at random in game no rhyme or reason. it's still done both of these since the patch.

playing on a win xp laptop with 64m video, btw

The CTD on exiting the client has come back, and I've been getting occasional CTDs during the set-up phase of scouting events, otherwise no problems

First test results for me on the desktop (vista 512mb vram) with the new files - I have been getting object load crashes for the first time ever on this machine using the standard and 'b' executables (though if it crashes with one I try the other and it loads fine). Game folder is on the desktop.

Will test the laptop next week (vista 64mb vram), but have never had object load crashes on that to date. Will keep you posted.
