periods of massive CPU usage

simonmaxhill Drive Backwards BFFs Darkwind Guru Anarchists Faction Group: Storytellers Posts: 1,503 Joined: Mar 10, 2008 I've been experiencing strange periods of time where my CPU usage skyrockets while playing DW and everything slows to a crawl (including mouse movement.) These seem to last 1-2 minutes before everything goes back to normal. I haven't noticed any background processes popping up that would cause this and it hasn't been happening with other programs. The computer drags really really heavily, even in the finder things are incredibly slow. Anyone else having this problem? ......................... vet wv Posted May 4, 2009, 2:40 am

When I do a stack trace it is flipping buffers for all it's worth, even though nothing is changing. Like most games, the DW client actually runs at full tilt, using up as much CPU as it can get in order to achieve the best possible framerate. This should be a constant though, not something that ebbs and flows. And in a modern operating system it shouldn't screw over other applications too badly, since the OS should make sure they get a look-in too.
