Another suggestion that I also feel is quite important (but not critical e.g. the "Rewind" function) to drivers is to be able to reset the position of your steering wheel that was in the previous turn's.

How is this important? Ok I'm expecting the good drivers to know this already, but anyway, for those who don't know, "fine-tuning" your steering wheel is very important in a race. If you do a powerslide, then leave your steering wheel at that position for the next few turns, most of the time your car turns at a constant rate of increment of acceleration (meaning the rate of increment of the rate of increment of turning speed). If you just turn the steering wheel or counter-steer by just one notch, it often makes a huge difference how the rest of that powerslide will turn out.

Problem is, sometimes I just want to get a good measure of the ghost car when over-steering or counter-steering. So I turn the steering wheel by a few notches. But sometimes, my laptop starts to get annoying and lags, so the "steering wheel moves on its own bug" (which happens to laggy netbooks like mine) happens, throwing my "previous turn steering wheel position" off track.

It'd be very helpful to be able to right click the steering wheel and select "reset to previous turn". It'd be another one of those "perfect racers wet dreams" B)

In my experience, calling a Time Out cancels out all players' submitted moves, and they have to resubmit.

Can you achieve the same effect by calling a Time Out?  In other words, if you've moved the steering wheel (and speedometer), but not submitted, and call a Time Out, do your steering wheel and speedo reset to what they were in the previous turn?

I'm not suggesting you do this in lieu of having your suggestion implemented.  I'm simply asking if you get the behavior you want by doing it.

Maybe if the rewind feature is implemented the steering wheel resets to the position it started the turn in by default?

Sounds good.

Marrkos I tried to replicate it. Don't know if I'm doing it right, but timeout doesn't reset steering wheel position.

Not a problem.  I wasn't sure it if it would work.  If it did, it would mean the 'reset code' is already present which would make implementation much easier.

Actually there is something similar in place. When you are moving the steering wheel and the timer is up, the scene does not react instantly, so you can continue moving the steering wheel. Then when the scene reacts, your steering wheel will suddenly jerk back to the position which was "registered" when the timer hit 0.

Also, rather than rewind, would a ghost with the previous turn's location be much help?

No it's quite different, even if subtle. The ghost is just a static model, and it doesn't exactly show when the car starts to increase the speed at which its butt turns - which imo is the point of it all.

The reset-steering-wheel and rewind features will nicely complement each other - I can't think of other alternatives that fulfill in this regard.
