`Zombies!` shouted Josh. A few drunken faces turned towards him. `That`s right, out there in the desert, shambling towards our cars arms outstretched.` `Well, I guess they`re probably mutants. Some especially degenerate `pussbags` maybe. But maaaan, even those guys don`t usually walk around covered in blood do they? I swear I saw tattered flesh hanging off a few of them. But I wasn`t hanging around to check, lemme tell ya. Stamped on the gas pedal and got my Phoenix back to town pretty sharpish.` Not much response from the denizens of Dexters. Everyone around here is quite used to the mad ramblings of loons whose brains have been fried from over-exposure to the aurora and too many bad experiences of death in the desert. `Sun shock`, they call it. And then later that same day, murky reports of a small trading camp near Somerset having been attacked by mutants. A handful of barely-sane survivors arriving into town in a motley collection of old pickups and beaten up sedans. Talk of cannabilism, of their women and children having been eaten alive. And then two phtographs, taken by a scout from the Clarinbridge Crushers, out for reconnaissance in the desert that afternoon:   Well, it didn`t take too long of course before the deathrace mafia moved in and saw an opportunity. The Evan Autoduel Association EAA somehow rounded up a bunch of these `zombies` and started throwing them into the arena during vehicle combats. Turns out they move pretty slow and are really dumb. Apparently can be stopped by a well-timed shot to the head, and aren`t much match for a fast-moving car. But the crowd sure like it when a panicking pilot leaps out of his burning car, afraid it might explode, only to be torn apart and eaten.   The lightly packed road offers many options for your trek through this map. The dunes surrounding the road are steep and slippery making driving them a chore.. Keep your wheels as straight as possible for maximum speed..... The speed you gain on the down-slopes will allow you to crest the upcoming higher dunes at a more-or-less higher speed. The Pirates you will get on this map WILL follow you into the dunes but will not have the same throttle control that you do.  Image by Lord Foul Remember these bits of advice! Small muscle cars like the Vampire or Flash can chase you down and kill you on the road... Larger muscle cars, like the Phoenix or Buccaneer class WILL try to get you off-road... If you have a `Mission Runner` like a Mercenary that is not armed and lightly armored.. Your chances of survival are quite High/Good! RUN FAST.... KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN! There are too many spots on this map where you can turtle your car to point out any certain area of danger. Watch your speed and slow down when you NEED to! If you have a `Muscle-Gunner` as an escort, Keep in mind the `Fighter-Pilots` Mantra.... SPEED IS LIFE! Use your strengths to your adversaries disadvantage!. If you turn faster than they do..... Turn inside him and keep your guns peppering his hide until you demoralize him or kill him......... If you are faster on the straights than them...... KEEP GOING PAST THEM until you can turn and get them one-on-one! THEN go for the next target!.. Keep you speed up! More than likely you will be in a target RICH environment! Get away from ALL demoralized cars as fast as possible! They WILL shoot you if you are in range! If you have both front AND rear guns, Target the front guns on one enemy car and set these guns to repeat-fire. Then pass your target at speed while getting your rear weapons set on the same target as well....... As you pass the target, set the rear guns to repeat-fire and turn back to lay waste to the one target ALL of your guns are aimed at. THEN use your speed! No matter where you turn, you will be shooting your target.... He will not know where to turn to get away from you! This Front/Back-gun tactic is a proven capability, BUT it is NOT RECOMMENDED for inexperienced players! |
