This chassis has poor handling and is heavy however, it is a cheap and quite versatile chassis, providing lots of space to carry weapons, people, or trade goods.
With a 2L engine this chassis makes an adequate dog fighter.
With a 3.2 litre engine and an Oil jet out the back this is a safe bet for inter city travel. Though if you use a 3.2L engine it will be exposed.
Symphonys are good to use where a low CR rating is required, mainly town combat events.

I have been doing courier runs for a couple of weeks, and it has been going well, but now I want to try doing Trader Escorts missions and I am looking for advice on how to do this.

What vehicles and weapon load outs would be good for escorts?

It looks like all the missions ask for 1 vehicles for each I am escorting minimum. Is this a good number, or would it be a good idea to bring an extra or two?

Trader escort is the most dangerous npc activity that can be done In the wild.

1.you usually have to fight to be successful
2.rarely are your charges useful fighting
3. The added cr makes it tough
4. Npcs are hard to control (can give them a direction and they sometimes pick a very horrid path)

Tips

Setup the npc escorted separate from your cars. Set them up staggered and never right beside eachother (they freak out and do wild turns on first turn to get away from nearby vehicle)

Examine the npc vehicles and plan accordingly. If they stuck you with a van and mine dropper...plan to have this guy run away on his own and or sacrifice himself so all get away.

Npcs are expendable sacrifice them as needed to get away. If everything goes to ####...make sure all npcs are in the fight and DEMO before you decide to give up. One lil bastard hero npc charge that does not give up until all your crews are dead is more dangerous than any griefing vet that has a hard on to slay your whole gang.

You can partially complete missions so do not give up if you lose a few stupid npcs. You will get less money and rep...but you live.

The best setup is rear weapon s that shoot far and make enemy npcs turn around and slow down. Do not be enticed by loot unless it is a laser. Then sacrifice all npc charges to obtain the laser. Use them as fodder in your evil betrayal. It is a difficult thing to decide exactly when to shoot the npcs attacking...risking yourself while your escorted flee. It is a dangerous point of every encounter.

If by extreme rare chance you are pvp intercepted. Fight. There is no better advantage in a pvp encounter than having npc fodder. There is no better way to make the aggressor pay dearly. Make sure you click hide the squad that they give you so people cannot view it (if you are not pvp flagged you could still be harrassed in south).

Try setup to keep your escorts in between you and the attackers.

I generally like to have a few really good rear guards and then maybe some front gunned fighters for ambush

Some rams can be helpful in case of ambush

Some sort of smoke screen can be really useful.

Lots of ammo.

A box van or such can be good for all these, with maybe some napalm or even paint. Also good for fuel truck of a sort as you need to provide fuel for all the traders.

Use direct pathing rather than let the NPCs try to work it out (use go here, not path to here).

Make the path line always longer than 1 turn at their current speed.

Avoid using too many way points or setting points too far away. Close points are good especially for giving the traders direction. You can actually have a fair amount of control over the AI if used this way.

Adjust all paths every turn to avoid chaos.

I find a rolling battle the best plan of action, moving at 50mph or so, only slowing when the AI stuff up to help protect them while they get going again.
