Devona`s apache made it up, unfortunately, Joe`s did not. Instead of jeopardizing the entire squad by asking for support, Joe waved his buddies off and to go on without him. He knew their only chance was for him to turn towards the enemy and fight to give the others the time needed to escape. Joe used his only weapon, a heavy flame thrower. He managed to torch 2 cars before he succumbed to multiple rocket shots into his breached side. He died with honor. His crew will always remember he sacrificed his life so they would live to fight another day. |

Eva was passed out and he stopped to srag her scorched body from the burning wreckage. He ran for the nearest dune shooting wildly in to the enemies breached side. A faint whistling was heard and he thought it was his gods singing a song of blessing. Unfortunately the whistling was that fo a car gernade falling from the ky to bring him back to a place of peace. | 'Prof' Todd Potts | Iron Wraiths | The Wilderness | 2020-12-04 | One of the Old Guard, Potts was instrumental in bringing the Wraiths back to the mail service after many years of dormancy.
Despite his timid appearance he holds the distinction of capturing two bandit vehicles whilst alone, on foot and armed with only a rifle. The fact that he never mentioned this achievement to the young leaders of the gang made him a legend within the Wraiths once it was discovered post mortem by Lisa Moreno.
As one of the elder council he oversaw the recruitment of dozens of new gang members who were to replace him and allow a quiet retirement. That recruitment required funds and so the elderly members dusted off their leathers and ran jobs back and forth between Somerset and Gateway, while the new members gained experience running to and from the camps.
Long after suitable replacements had been trained, Todd continued to run `just one more job` until it became clear that he was never going to quit.
Inevitably however his luck ran out when he was ambushed by Butane. Outnumbered four to one in an unarmed Spirit and with the enemy in his front quarter where the runners traditionally had their weakest armour, his car was bounced about and systematically dismantled by close range rocket fire.
Ironically the light-weight armour he was experimenting with to increase his speed may have contributed to the excessive buffeting that prevented him making the safety of nearby buildings.
He could have surrendered, but likely, as Butane are slavers, he preferred a quick death in combat rather than a slow death in exile in Firelight. |
