Kinda not cool to just change that on the fly...

I had a huge poll and basically most people were against it.

I'm guessing that a minority just complained and Boom! it's changed.

Typical.

But..i'm happy with the change, I just hate that the sqeekiest wheel gets the greese ..all the time.

question about change....is there a benifit to staying open longer?

8 hour open time means set your time to the 8 hours when either Americans or Brits are asleep and you remove or at least MAJORLY inconvenience the majority of their players.

I thought that the 24 hour open time was supposed to encourage people getting together and working out who defends at what time and whatnot,

Edited for grumpybum removal.

I think 12 hours was best - that's what I voted in the poll.

8 removes any idea of needing people in multiple time zones, one person can completely defend a camp now.

Actually, the majority (60%) were all for the change of some sort.

Not if they have a real life.

(This statement does not imply that I have a life :cyclops: )

It's not hard to set the times to be from the time work ends, till sleep time. Family time can be shuffled about depending when the attack happens. Not to mention how many people I see playing from work. But I'd never play from work. I'm a good employee. :stare:

Edit: This is also all Joels fault. JOEL YOU BASTARD! :cyclops:

Wow... imagine having the same 8 consecutive hours to devote to a game each and every single day...

This is not the case for many of us.

Camps were supposed to promote multi time zone relationships between players.

8 hours can be covered by a very small number of people in a very small time zone coverage situation.

Which is about right for a game with a player base the size of Darkwind's.  Maybe someday when we have camps with hundreds of members each we can have the defense posts manned 24/7.

FWIW, I think the change is a good one.  And for you people who feel family time can be shuffled to fit the DW schedule, it can't.  It's actually just the opposite.

I can be signed up to stuff and then get the "Hey can you give me a hand?" call. And Im out and off doing something for 20 mins.

Talking about events in general.

It's kinda against the point anyway, as nobody HAS to defend 8 hours by themselves -- they've got multiple other people to do it too.

But anyway... what was better about the 24 hour system than the 8 hour system?

That people can't have their open hours for the exact hours that a certain (major) timezone is generally sleeping for the most part? :stare:

Also more reason to have multiple people in camp working together to defend.

Yes but serephe, some people only like to bring in people to their camp who they can trust, so some camps (not saying that ours suffers from this) might not have people from all different time zones to defend an attack which can come from any different time zone.

That's why you could set times when your camp was closed. It doesn't mean you need your camp closed 2/3rds of every day.
