Darkwind
Server move! Monday 5th November

I have been setting up the new server, and will be moving Darkwind across to it on Monday morning, 5th November. Approx 9:30 am server time.

I would expect a downtime of no more then 30-60 mins, since everything possible has already been moved and configured. Just the final move of the database and domain name will be needed at that point, plus some testing.

The new server is approx 4x more powerful; I'd expect the only thing you will notice is that there is less of a gap between everyone submitting moves and the moves actually running, since the new server will be able to simulate the moves quicker.

The move in underway now, and this is the new server. (Ain't it shiny?) ;-)

I have updated and tested everything I could think of, but apologies in advance if there are any hiccups on the new server: I will fix things that come up ASAP.

There were a few little issues, now resolved as far as I know. These related to the server software being 4 years newer than the previous one and needing a bit of configuration to make it fully compatible. Apologies for any trouble..

If anyone is having trouble getting into the lobby: it is because your computer hasn't yet realised that the IP address of dark-wind.com has changed. It will resolve itself in a few hours.

Or, to fix it immediately: download this file and put it into /darkwind/client/scripts, overwriting the old version of the file:

http://5.9.117.17/temp/client.cs.dso

This file will connect to 5.9.117.17 rather than doing a DNS lookup for dark-wind.com
