PsychicSoftware and Darkwind: War On Wheels developpers are delighted to announce free gameplay on scouting events for Halloween.

As we want all players accross the world to be able to experience this normally  subscribers only feature, this part of the game will be free for non-subscribers from October 31st, 12:00 pm to November 1st, 12:00 pm GMT. A complete turn around the clock.

We will provide free vehicles for all, as you may remember, non-subscribers are not allowed to own vehicles and customize them. You will have to bring your own gang members though.
This is a unique opportunity to test this part of the game, that is not otherwise available, and to meet our special squad of Halloween vehicles!

What are you waiting for? if you are not yet a player, register now for free, train... train... and train again yourself to be ready.
Once done, head on to Dexter's to hire a few more characters.

We are looking to meet you outside the town on Halloween!

I'll add it to the other ones you provided. Thanks mate :-)

This will also be an opportunity for me to write the decals code I wanted to add for a long time, so the current league-holders will get to wear their badges on their cars.

We'll also be getting the long-awaited unique numbering on each car in a town event. I have the code for adding decals working nicely...  :cyclops:

Maybe even player-supplied decals.. but I need to make a custom patching system for that, I would want those to download to the client when required rather than all the time.

Interesting. So it works like an additional texture layer?

"layers". Each logo is a different image. :)

Ye, these decals are separate png images (with transparency) that are blended with the vehicle texture. I am in the process of defining the two positions and sizes (typically on the roof and door) where each chassis takes its decals.

Here's how the cars will look with their racing numbers.. and also the L plate will be used to identify a player who has logged into less than 10 events..  ;)

The L plates will also identify a borrowed car. These cars will be available for everyone (incuding non-subscribers) to use for the Halloween special event. A borrowed car will be taken away when it returns back to town or when you borrow another car.

The 'L' plate concept is excellent! :p

Maybe I should have set the numbers partially transparent (75% opacity), so some of the details behind would have been visible?

No, they're better as they are I think, they need to be maximum visiblility.
I have them added after the rust layer has been blended, rather than before (unlike other decal types) for the same reson.

Does it mean they won't be affected by the blended image applied after a fire occured?

They will be affected by that, since it happens after they have been blended in.

Heh. You should see an 'L' plate on it, which identifies it as a borrowed car. It will be returned to Dexter when you arrive back to town with it.

Anyone with a good screenshot of the Halloween cars, please pass them my way! -- we can add a few to the Gazette story.

Is the PAYPAL post really the most important change going on? Us newbies are really confused at this forum structure. Where do we look? At the top!

In practice, the Patch Notes and Game Announcements are where the updates get posted.
