Farewell community of Darkwind.
It has been a long way since the first days I joined the game and the development team. Working with Sam was one of the greatest experience I was allowed; not only because of his programming and game designing skills, but also because of his very kind human nature. There has been some changes, like the recent addition of active new contributors and my lack of time, so I don't feel my place is on the playing field anymore. As I'm not someone enjoying to seat and watch things either, I won't play anymore, and should not visit those forums very often. I'm proud we finally got that good reviewing in Inside Mac Games - it has been a long work to do so. Marketing is not an easy task. I'm wishing all the best to the new team, Sam and Darkwind. |

Change is a part of life Vikk and the way you face that change can either make it a good thing, or something to be avoided.
I'm sorry you feel the need to avoid the inevitable change going on here. I, personally, will miss you and your comraderie. Take care Mon Frere

Aww... Sucks to see you go, but I guess it was coming for a while now...
We'll certainly have a hart time getting by without your talents. I can speak for everyone if I say we appreciate all the hard work you put into DW and you'll be missed! And thanks for sticking with us for so long. Also I hope you'll pop in to check how we're doing and maybe do an event more often than your post would imply (or else...  )

I'm not really into public farewells (smacks of a sympathy ploy) but Vikk Has really contributed to DW in countless ways and was definately a major contributor here.
I will break my rule on stroking the farewell ego here because Vikk, mon ami, you will definately be missed.
Merde! who will give us those awesome tracks now? lol take care mon cher (bilingual rhyme there lol) hope you won't abandon us completely (we know you've got a killer map in mind and can't resist) We know DW hasn't quite taken the direction you hoped it would but is no real reason to give up on us yet. We all gotta work with the system and that includes the side -developers as well 
That in mind i would hope you could continue in giving us the valuable input you have since almost the beggining. C'est la vie I guess so i guess i'll end with "Bonne Chance" with whatever it is you pursue with typical French tenacity on whatever you've left us for.

You can't imagine how much the words were appreciated guys, thank you very much. 
I don't really agree, but I'm happy you enjoyed it.

You are absolutely right Alo. My own vision switched too far away from Sam's one to be consistent with the kind of gameplay he is looking to. Don't believe it was an easy decision on my side. Sam was strongly relying on me to put in more maps. But with the new kid, was real free time as dropped from 1 to 2 hours a day to 1 to 2 hours a week. Not enough to bring new things within the next 12 months.
As I wrote to him recently:
With me officially away, he knows he can look for someone else, without hurting my very touchy pride. I know he doesn't feel the same though. I will be keeping an eye on the forums and the game. For the last 2 years I was used to wake up and drink my coffee in front the computer while lurking here. Bad habits are hard to take rid of.
Have fun playing the game. Don't play solo too much. |
