Happy Hour, pvp - mmm good

d0dger an0maly Darkwind Guru Deathrace Mafia Faction Group: Members Posts: 2,502 Joined: Jan 24, 2010 You are somewhat cordially invited to attend the completely informal ‘Happy Hour’ events this weekend in the wastes surrounding the Badlands Truckstop during the hours of 16:00-17:00 and 22:00-23:00 server time, on Saturday and Sunday. THE POINT: Consensual no holds barred Open PVP fun for those that might enjoy a greater tactical challenge then the NPC AI offers and/or wish to endorse and support this mode of play to *sam*, the rules council, and the community. THE PRIZES: You get what you loot and you get to brag about it. You also get to help generate actual PVP in this game to show *sam*, the rules council, and the community what works and doesn’t, what’s fair or not, and how our community handles PVP, potential griefing, etc. etc. etc. through deed instead of word, however bad it may hurt. THE RULES: Just the natural laws of Evan. SUGGESTIONS: Roll out a squad with your buds looking for random PVP. Roll a mix of low, mid, and high CR vehicles.  Enable CR balancing on your squad. Discuss terms for the possibility or lack thereof to surrender individual vehicles with your opponent at the outset of the conflict. Fly your camp flags and see if you can get your camp some bonus fame. Kick ass and take names, and share the fight event ID with the rest of us in the PVP forum afterwards.     You say you support open random PVP in Evan? Put your money where your mouth is. It was with an unarmed voyager courier and CR balancing let my muscle car squeak in. I was prepared to let the car just run away until my opponent opened the event with insults and obscenities, so decided to give chase. After running for a bit and taking a few hits my opponent realized he couldn't outrun my Buccaneer on the roads so went offroad into hills where his voyager climbs and turns better and managed to get away. Try and trick there was, including PSYCHING the other driver out. Every comment I made was in RP aimed at an IN GAME bad guy. Sorry your widdle feewings was hurt. The only reason he caught me was because I blew a turn. Otherwise, I'd have been long gone. IN GAME, I know that the car that was chasing me is what some consider 'rare' or a vehicle they want to keep. Going off-road was the best way to get him off my tail, because I knew HIS GANGER (and his IRL owner) wasn't going to risk screwing up his pretty toy. And guess what. Strategy worked. I don't truce. But I also didn't have any weapons. I won, most spectacularly (even though the game awarded him the win because he did damage) and had fun. Ya I talked smack: IN GAME. So, oh, wait, this ain't in game anymore so I can't say it. Besides, I like you. dodger: I really wasn't expecting PvP. Forgot about the Happy Hour thingie. But I also wasn't going to NOT give you something. I ain't wired that way. I do hope that the references to Mezcal's and all the rest made you realize it was RP: but your silence said maybe not, so I laid off a bit. Too bad, 'cause I had some real gems to lay on ya!! I think talking smack is great, RPing the whole thing is excellent. Don't worry yourself as my "widdle feewings" weren't hurt. I considered that you were role playing, but Dodger actually mentioned the language, and so it was time to back off on the explicit words and respect the fact that others may not want to hear it, RP or not. Go ahead and taunt, but I found some of the things you said to be over the top. I understand many do not, but I won't sit by and not comment. I think its poor form to start off with that kind of language when you have no idea how old/who it is you are talking to. If its an old friend you have gamed with here for a long time, then have at it, if you know they are ok with it. If its a largely unknown person, I suggest we all chill just a bit. I've seen several examples now of PvP getting heated enough that the explicit language and cursing has flowed freely. Interestingly the excuse afterward is always "roleplaying". However, anyone can tell by watching these several replays that it was anything but during the time. I will retract my "ban" BS comment, I am not immune to getting ticked off myself. We talked briefly OOC but when the 'game' started, I started. I don't remember saying anything particularly nasty, but no offense on a personal level was meant.
