Gonna finally admit who I am. Don't why it took me so long.

My name is Nicholas. I've been involved in the business of games for a long time, most recently as CEO of GameShadow, a patching utility for PC games that does much more.

Currently working on a project with Firefly Studios, non-executive director of nDreams and, of course, an editor of the Darkwind Gazette.

I am also a writer. I have written articles for Steve Jackson Games (search in Pyramid under Nicholas Lovell if you are a subscriber) and in trade magazines such as MCV and Develop. I have an article on going aground while sailing in this month's issue of Practical Boat Owner.

My personal website is at www.nicholaslovell.com

On the gaming front, my all time favourite game ever is Jagged Alliance 2, which I can play and play again. I am also extremely hooked on Medieval II: Total War. I was a big Car Wars fan and have written a fully featured alternate future for Britain at www.greatscourge.co.uk.

And I keep a blog of what happens in Darkwind. It is updated relatively frequently at vanguards.wordpress.com. Check it out (and sign up to get an email whenever I update it.)

Hello, my name is Jason and I am an alco.....opps wrong forum :D

I'm a 36 year old Canadian who is married with two children. I'm currently working overseas as a Technology Manager in Asia for the next 2 or 3 years. I'm a big gamer from way back. I love to game, watch hockey, design (games and graphics), listen to music and spend time with family.

Darkwind has been a breath of fresh air after watching the gaming industry pumping less and less innovation into it all the time.

Me! Me! Me!

I'm simon max hill, a 30 year old slacker in the Pacific Northwest.

I grew up with BBSs and Atari ST and Commodore 64 and plenty of Car Wars, Battletech, Warhammer 40k, Shadowrun and other activities that do a better job at preserving ones virginity better than any overbearing parent or religion.

I do casting for commercials and movies, which is a freelance kind of job that I do from my house.  This is why I'm able to play the game and also why I disappear for weeks on end (the hours can be brutal.)

Additionally, I do photography for money (of course!)

I am an aloof hipster who spends half his days laptopping in cafes with his rat-tail mullet and his evenings smoking cigarettes with skinny legged coke dealers.  I own 20 pairs of sneakers and drive the car below, and would do a backflip if that model made it into the game.  It has a 5Lv8 under the hood, btw.

And here I thought I was the only St. Louisian.  The Maryland Heights area, specifically.  I (Deric Page) am a 37 year old Solftware Developer specializing in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Telephony.  Been a CW fan since I was about 12 or 13 and also played a little Battlecars and Dark Future back in the day.  Darkwind's definately been a lot of fun, though I've really only delved into this scouting this past week.

Outside of that, my main gaming includes the Hero System (Champions, etc) and the occasional board game.

My name is Andrew Williams, and as some of you have figured out, I'm a reviewer for online indie games magazine Bytten. I got into this game in order to review it and I've stuck here since.

The social aspect is the biggest reason for addiction - everyone here is so friendly and supportive that it's hard not to pop by now and again and see how everyone is getting on.

I live in Iowa City, Iowa in a 1920s house that I have trouble keeping up with but love working on. I drive an 02 WRX hatchback that I happen to believe is the greatest car ever built. Of course I used to say that about my Miata too.

My son is 2, my wife is lovely and kind. I'm a terribly lucky fellow. I'm getting uncomfortably close to 40.

I'm a mix of Irish/Swede/German/English/and American Indian. The standard American mutt.

I believe deeply in Naturalistic Pantheism. Sadly this leads me to be trite and dismissive of just about everything while remaining convinced that everything is sacred. It's your classic existential crisis....a deep belief in everything and nothing...all at once. FUnny, I'm not sure i"ve ever written it down before. I often swap "God" for "Gravity"

Curently I'm the Marketing Director at www.opnarchitects.com and I love it here. Good folks working hard in a design and communication driven culture. I have teaching, graphics, web development, audio and video production and editing, catalog design, and paper airplane folding as professional backgrounds.

I'm really glad to be here, and have been a gaming gypsy for a long time. Car Wars, D&D, Shadowrun and all that are in my past as well as virtually every Amiga, C64, PC, Mac, PS1, PS2, XBOX & XBOX360 game....I play them all at least once. Few stick.

I'm a rabid fan of what Sam has done here and hope to find a way to help it grow. Just like in my work, my efforts are usually focused on usable and clear communication. Of course there are those nights I stay up too late and make a mess of my thoughts...

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and think I will be for a long time.

I thought it was about time to post something on the forum, and I guess this is the best place to start :P

My name's Juan Carlos, I'm 17 and I'm spanish. Since I was 6 my dad had me sit on his lap and watch him work on his computer or on any of the cars of the garage. I guess that's why my greatest passions are computers and anything with wheels and an engine :D. I'm also a metalhead (no, I'm not a robot, I just like music :P)

I won't bore you with my gaming history, I'll just say that I've learned english playing online games.

I came here after a long search for something to replace interstate 76, something I could play with people. I bumped onto Bytten's review of the game, and other review (can't remember where it was),and they convinced me,so here I am :P.

It looks like a lot of people here play tabletop games,so I'll leave it to you to find out where my gang, player and some car names come from ;)

Hi. I'm Shawn, a 33 year old gamer and fulltime contract driver for NAPA, which means I deliver car parts to towns you've never heard of in Arkansas. I found DW through RPG.net and have been playing pretty much daily since then much to the dismay of my GF. I'm oldskool in that I actually owned the original pocket box Car Wars and have since moved on to 3x scale with my kids.

Wow, what austere company. Alrighty then: I'm Gary and I'm not an alcoholic.
I'm a killer by profession, a fallen journalist by choice and submissive man-servant to my lovely wife full time.
I'm on the other side of 50...grew up on a large horse farm and the women that rode them. Owned my first business at 13, when I leased 4 acres from my dad and opened my own equine exhibition facility.
Marine Corps...grass-humper, scout, combat photographer...pick a 'hot spot' in the world during the late 70's and early/mid 80's and my M-14 and I were there, shooting and looting.
Opened the first commercial paint-ball field in Europe...made a killing off the crazed Germans...my amateur team handed the Mayhem Tigers their arses...came back to U.S., opened a restaurant (bad idea), lost a restaurant and a hottie wife...opened the first commercial computer education/gaming company of its kind in Erie, PA...lost same to greedy partners when Microsoft got interested in concept...went from a business owner insurance companies didn't know how to insure to a guy with a suitcase and $5 in his pocket (what they bought me out for).
Started skydiving, basically travelled the world jumping out of airplanes and bagging hottie skydiving chikkies (and first-time jumpers) for the next 6 years until I met my lovely wife.
Now I'm trying to become a productive member of society again. I have an EBay site catering to j-body owners (Cavaliers and Sunfires) and am finally finishing the 4 novels I started back in...'92?
Have been a gamer since before gaming was introduced. I used to take large clumps of dirt and pretend they were tanks...throw rocks at them from each side till there was a victor...played the original Car Wars computer game like mad. All the pencil and paper games. I killed Gary Gygax.
Went mad for Car Wars...even built Hot Wheel-sized arenas with sliding walls, trap-doors.... One of the three Boat Wars designers.
Found Dark Wind while checking through the Steve Jackson forums. I'm hooked.
I think the people that made the new Death Race should be hunted down and clubbed to death like baby seals.
I have the next greatest MMORPG idea. Call me.

Hey I am COCO , I never actually ever posted to the forum

Just had a massive forum arguement elsewhere and learnt a lessons.

Wanted to share .

Thought of you guys.

I work for a lot of charities at the moment.

making the transistion from  IT support to paid charity - ( additional need Kids and It tutoring for folks with additonal needs)

Poor but happy - ten years of the corporate financial/broadcasting It support surrounded by dead faces gave me a clear path

Read a wiki last year about quakers - by accident

This entry kicked me in the head

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quaker#Mysticism

Scotland is big on Church - did the whole mainstream thing 25 years ago.

So sudden I go to a place once a week and listen for an hour - in silence with 250 other people - in silence.
Have started to study it more and during one class an advisor described Christ as the "C word" , which is simultaneously the funniest and the most open way to describe the dude.

Its almost like that reverse pysch of " we cannot give this stuff away but if we charge for it everyone wants it" except this is reverse reverse Psychology - I am here , under no obilagation or moral imperative or peer pressure , I am alone and I am with you and I am the sum of my beliefs and the sum of my behaviour here on on earth right now.

I dig it a lot - closer to the truth

Anyway , other people's beliefs  can make folks uncomfortable and I dont want to make anyone uncomfortable  :o

The tweenagers at the charity have started shuffling about with their hands in their pockets ( too cool for school at 11, sigh) I have 3 at the charity who all play FO3 ( cert 18!) The play centre isfull of stuffed toys and action men and giant plastic dinosaurs . I am gonna try to 'engage' them with simple roleplaying  - one set of poly hedral dice a tape measure and some carboard body armour and guns - Big Purple Barney will play a deathclaw ?

I had terrible time at school , tunnels and trolls saved my a$$ (TTYF, ZombieZonk!) it improved my english and arithmetic and got me into History.
Runequestis my one true love , the one world I would escape to.
Lots of Gurps , Globbo, STOMp , Gev,CarWarssince First edition( ziploc not blackplastic case(I remember when VMGs came out ! ),  Microquests (?), fantasy gamer ,Space Gamer , ADQs and Wyrms friends and talkes of the reaching moon, Cyberpunk 2020 a,dTav 2300 , James bond RPG , Dinky toy(die cast) car wars and GURPS AUTODUEL and AUTODULEon Commodore 64 blah blah 20 years of avalon Hill SJG Chaosium  etc etc Still play War hammer fantasy 2nd edition

Love war movies

I am a trained scavenger - as a child I knew allthe dinner ladiesby first name and today I  recycle the packed lunches that the kids do not eat - which means I get a lot of free fruit and no nice biscuits  - I live out of the reduced section of all my local supermarkets - gets you a good diverse diet.

I love TK maxx , Lidl and Army and Navy ( In UK A&N means any colour you like as long as it is Khaki )

Current fave Firearm - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaqPowTdqtg&feature=channel_page

I dont actually like guns , but i am europeans -If you read this link and especially the comments at the bottom from folks who have 'discharged in anger' you start to understand

http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/ammunition/2009/02/petzal-rules-gunfighting

For me guns are the stuff of Westerns ( I still maintain that DW is cowboy genre) and wargames

Read forensic analysis of realevents always reminds me of the true gravity of these events
http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs7.htm
http://www.thegunzone.com/11april86.html

COCO

The forum arguement ? - dull techies stuff about MSCONFIG and SSDs and Netbooks
The lesson -

Engage people
Be honest about what you know and support your arguement
Be clear and succinct
Be gracious and apologise for even imagined slights
Humility is about me verses my ego
Makes folks laugh
Be clear aboutwhat isbeing argued
Never vary from your orginal stance
Re-iterate til the other guy comprehends
Re-iterate til he is offensive
Re-iterate til the thread grinds to a stand still

then walk away
